Continuing right along....
Frankincense and Myrrh Of the 10 scents in this collection, this is the one that I was most anxious to sniff upon arrival. What do resins fit for a King's birth smell like? They aren't exactly standard fragrances that everyone is familiar with. (I've never come across frankincense deodorant or myrrh bubble bath anywhere, have you?) Really, the fragrance is very difficult to describe, but it is warm and exotic and maybe even mysterious. I love having a more unpredictable Christmas scent in the mix.
I used brick oxide and yellow oxide with a touch of tangerine wow colorant. I set some cardboard in my mold as a divider and poured the soap at very light trace on both sides of the divider before removing the cardboard. I've been having some fun with this technique lately and I'm glad it worked again!
Fresh Snow Here is another fragrance that had me intrigued, but it's another goodie! It's fresh and clean and almost fruity. (Do I detect a hint of grape?) I had this soap designed in my head since I first chose the project. I used the titanium dioxide and ultramarine blue for my colors, along with a smattering of iridescent glitter. This turned into an all-around Bramble Berry project since I used my square mold from the company--I really like this shape.
And thus you have finished gazing upon the first half...
(Don't forget, if you want to be in the drawing for a Bramble Berry $50 gift certificate, use the code GIVEMBER50 when placing an order during the month of November.)

Oh Amy these are BEAUTIFUL!! Love the soft blu color. I'm sure they took lots of time to make, so envious of your talent
ReplyDeleteThanks....they did take awhile, but I was anxious to try the idea that had been rolling around in my mind. And it worked!
DeleteOh. My. Gosh. The blue one is GORGEOUS!!! ***WANT***
ReplyDeleteThe other one is awesome too, but I'm not a fan of the F&M scent.
~Deb
Well, thank you very much, Deb!
DeleteAww, how cute is your little snowman! I love BB's Fresh Snow, and the Frankincense and Myrrh has really grown on my this year too. I hated it last year in MP but it really seems to mellow a bit in CP and blends with the fresh, clean scent of soap nicely. Great looking soaps girly!
ReplyDelete...I like my little snowman fella, too! While I liked Frankincense and Myrrh, it's a very, very different sort of a scent, isn't it? It's hard to describe.
DeleteI am in awe of your snowman soap! That design is the most genius winter soap design ever! The others are super fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteHowdy! And thanks for the compliments! :)
DeleteBeautiful soaps, Amy! I've been wanting to try the Frankincense & Myrrh FO, but just haven't bought any yet. I bought a lot of holiday FOs year before last, and figured I should use them up this year before buying more. Maybe next year! (It's so easy to go nuts buying FOs!) Love your Fresh Snow soap - I made a Fresh Snow soap this year, too. The little snowman is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI didn't really have to buy any Christmas-y scents last year, but thankfully, I was out this year and got to stock up. There are SO many cool-sounding FOs out there it's almost too overwhelming to choose!
ReplyDeleteYour snowman is so CUTE, what a beautiful soap! Great job Amy!!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful soap!!!! :):)
