Time Marches on...and so did March

Now that we're well into the second week of April, I think it's about time I step back and see what happened during the last month...whew.

I didn't do any markets or shows this month, so things were pretty quiet on the soap front. I worked on updating the rest of my soap labels and started re-designing the labels for the rest of my products.

March is my birthday month and we usually celebrate it with an adventure of some kind. We decided to go a little over the top this year, and instead of an overnight getaway trip in the area, we left our midwest winter that looked like this--

and traveled to Texas, as far south as we could go without a passport.

Folks, it was warm down there. Balmy, even. It felt good after a long winter.

So close! The rock on the left side of the Rio Grande River is Mexico.

This little roadrunner acted as my tour guide, leading the way down the path to the river.

"Sing ho for the open highway! Sing ho for the open road!"

We eventually came back for a little more of that snow. March definitely ended like a lion.

I also had a long clean up, clean out session in my soaping room. I'll share pictures in my next post!

Last Chance least for now

Hello all! In preparation for our big move from our rental next month, I've put my entire Etsy shop on sale now through Friday. I'll re-open as soon as I'm able but I'm not sure exactly when that will be! So much is up in the air right now.  In the meantime, help me make my move a little lighter!! And for my local shoppers, I'm restocking several of my stores next week with my remaining inventory. Thanks to all of you for your business the past 12 years and I'll see you on the flip side!

Dandelion Zebra wrap-up

Oh, happy day!  I found out last night that I won the Dandelion Zebra swirl's soap challenge on the Great Cakes Soapworks blog . I'm thrilled!  This was my entry. Thanks heaps, Amy!  And Bramble Berry  for sponsoring!  Christmas craft shows and experimenting for a new retail location won't allow me time to enter this coming month's challenge, but I look forward to rejoining the fun soon!  If you have never joined a challenge, I highly recommend it. Just in case anyone thinks I'm some kind of pro now; here are the pictures of my first attempt at this technique, as I promised. It was a mess of a batch, albeit salvageable, because a lot of soap oozed out of the freezer paper liner and the texture is odd and spongy.  I still like the colors I chose and it had a lot of potential to be gorgeous, but all that aside...there is nothing Dandelion-esque about the swirl!  So I'm glad I gave it another try. However, it is hardening and doesn't zap.  So
